Getting Around: One can easily get around the city and see many attractions on foot. However, a car is needed to see attractions located outside the city, including plantations. Edmondston-Alston House an Interpretative Gallery
The Edmondston-Alston House, one of the first dwellings built on Charleston's High Battery in 1825, presents a new exhibit that explores the house's history and the story of the families who lived there. Built by a Scottish shipping merchant and then sold during the "Panic of 1837" to Charles Alston, this stately house is a gracious example of 19th-century commitment to elegance, style and comfort.
