Hard Rock Cafe Marks 30 Years
| |
|
In 1971, the first Hard Rock Café opened in London, England. Thirty years later, there are more than 100 cafes in 38 countries around the world. The memorabilia collection is now valued at $32 million and encompasses 63,000 pieces. And to think it all started with Eric Clapton's request to hang his guitar on the wall marking "his spot" at the bar.
The Las Vegas Hard Rock Café opened its doors on Sept. 7, 1990 and is currently putting the finishing touches on a $2-million renovation with a brand new merchandise store that encompasses 1,100 square feet. The new Tower of Power Bar features a column of lights with liquid video screens topped off with vintage rockin' guitars. Priceless collections of photos, guitars, clothing and costumes, platinum and gold LPs, posters and album art as well as other rare artifacts line the walls.
The dining experience of Hard Rock Café includes impromptu dancing on chairs, fire-blowing bartenders who juggle bottles and classic American fare.
So grab your friends and a camera and head on down to the corner of Paradise and Harmon. You can't miss the Hard Rock Café -- just look for the 85-foot neon Les Paul guitar.
