Getting Around: You don't really need a car in Athens. With an excellent public transportation system, the city's buses can take you almost anywhere in the area. Downtown offers an abundance of shops and restaurants that are easily reached on foot. Most residents drive cars, but Athens is quite bike- and pedestrian-friendly.
Busiest Time of Year: Fall, when UGA freshmen and football fans converge on the city for home football games.
