 The game of golf got its start in Northeast Florida in St. Augustine, the nation's oldest city. When Henry Flagler arrived in St. Augustine in 1883, he began transforming the town into an elite resort by building his signature hotels, The Ponce de Leon Hotel and the Alcazar Hotel.
